Before The Show, Check Out These 10 Ways To Save On Tickets
A blog on ways to save money on purchasing tickets
10. Shop around.
There are many places to purchase tickets online, but not all of them are equal. You should always compare prices at different sites before you buy. Some of the websites I suggest checking out include:
Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster is the most popular ticket-selling website and has the largest inventory, making it a great place to start your search.)
StubHub (StubHub is a ticket exchange where you can buy and sell tickets with no service charges or hidden fees. You can set your own price if you want to unload tickets that you can’t use.)
Craigslist (Craigslist is a great source for free tickets and heavily discounted tickets if you’re willing to take the risk.)
SeatGeek (SeatGeek aggregates dozens of ticket sources and displays the best deals at the top of its listings.)
Goldstar (Goldstar sells discounted last-minute tickets to concerts, theater productions, festivals and sporting events in more than 40 markets across North America. It now offers its own “free” membership program that gives members $5
Before The Show, Check Out These 10 Ways To Save On Tickets
Most of us are guilty of shelling out more than we need to on tickets. But there are ways to save on seats for your favorite teams and shows. From being a season ticket holder to trying these other tips, you’ll be saving money on tickets in no time!
1. Be a Season Ticket Holder: Most sports teams offer season tickets that can save you money off the cost of each individual game. If you’re not a die-hard fan, consider splitting them with friends or family who are eager to go for the entire season. You’ll still save money compared to buying single-game tickets at the gate; plus, you can resell the games you don’t use online to recoup some of your costs.
2. Buy Directly from Venues: Ever heard that old saying, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is?” That adage applies here as well. Many third-party ticket websites sell tickets at inflated prices and they may not even be legitimate vendors (meaning when you arrive at the venue, your tickets could be fake). Buying directly from venues is always your safest bet!
3. Use Discount Codes: Discount codes can be found all

1. Don’t Buy Tickets At The Box Office
The most obvious way to save money is to purchase your tickets in advance, but the real trick is to not buy them directly from the box office. Search several different ticket sites like Stubhub and SeatGeek to find the best deal on tickets.
2. Look For Ticket Discounts
Some venues offer discounts for students, military and senior citizens. Sometimes you can also receive a discount if you purchase your tickets in advance or if you buy group tickets.
3. Use A Rewards Credit Card
If you are going to be buying a lot of event tickets, it might be worth opening a credit card that offers rewards for purchasing event tickets. For example, the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card offers 3x points for airfare and 2x points at US restaurants, gas stations, and supermarkets. You can redeem those points for statement credits towards airline tickets purchased directly from the airline or from Amex Travel (1 point = 1 cent).

We’ve got a lot of different ways to save money on tickets, whether you’re looking for cheap theatre tickets or discount tickets for musicals and other shows. Below, we’ve listed our favorite methods for saving money on tickets, but there are some more general tips at the bottom of this page as well.
There are many ways to save money and still enjoy your trip. One way is to research ticket prices, especially for children and seniors. Children under the age of two are generally free on most airlines. Discounts on airline tickets and hotel rooms can be found for children under 12 or those over the age of 65. Airlines don’t usually advertise this, so you have to ask when booking your flight.
Another way to save money is to find out what discounts are available at the destination you plan on visiting. Many hotels provide rooms at a lower price during certain times of the year, such as summer months, when demand is high. Some hotels offer a “kids stay free” policy if you bring your family along with you on vacation. If you plan on visiting museums or other cultural attractions while traveling, check to see if they offer discounts for students or seniors.
