The company provides parts for the UH-1 helicopter from Vietnam. It also provides a limited supply of spare parts for other military helicopters. In addition, it restores aircraft and offers complete airframe overhauls. Additionally, it manufactures new airframes using original tooling provided by Bell Helicopter.

The Huey Helicopter Company is a major supporter of the American Huey Museum (AHM) in Peru, Indiana. The AHM has put together an extensive collection of helicopters with an emphasis on the UH-1 series.

Huey Helicopter is a high technology company that designs and manufactures aircraft for the global market. Huey Helicopter has been a leading innovator in aircraft design since its inception. The company introduced the first commercially viable helicopter, a revolutionary innovation that changed the way rotorcraft were viewed. Huey Helicopter continues to be an industry leader with innovative designs.

Huey Helicopter’s global headquarters are located in Palo Alto, California, United States of America. Corporate headquarters include research and development, engineering, marketing and sales facilities. Engineering also has locations in Europe and Asia. Manufacturing plants are located throughout the world.

Huey Helicopter was founded in 1942 by Paul MacCready. Huey Helicopter was originally part of United States Armed Forces during World War II and was spun off as an independent company after the war ended.

In the early 1960s, the American military command in Vietnam found itself facing an insurgency that grew larger and more sophisticated with each passing month. The US had no helicopters suited to counterinsurgency operations and little experience in such combat.

By 1962, the Army was committed to a crash program to develop a new aircraft, called the UH-1, for “utility helicopter,” which would come to be known as the Huey. The first Hueys were barely better than existing models, but by 1964 Bell Helicopter had developed a new model that became the mainstay of US Army operations in Vietnam.

The Huey was well suited for the counterinsurgency role. Its fast speed and high maneuverability made it ideal for helicopter gunships, which could chase and destroy enemy units on the ground. It could also fly into remote areas to airlift troops and supplies where roads were few or nonexistent.

Bell built over 16,000 Hueys during the Vietnam War, making it one of the most successful military aircraft of all time.
