The Mexican Peso (or MXN) is the official currency of Mexico. Most places will accept US Dollars as well; however, they will give change back in Mexican Pesos. It is best to have both US Dollars and Mexican Pesos just in case a place does not take US Dollars. If you do not plan on exchanging money at a bank before going to Mexico, there are ATM machines all over the place once you get there. Just make sure that your bank knows where you are traveling so they do not block your card for suspicious activity once you use it abroad.
