I get a lot of questions on how to find the cheapest airline tickets and while I don’t have any magic answers, I would like to share what I do when booking flights.

It’s not so much about finding a great deal as it is about pricing out your options to find the lowest fare possible. And by low, I mean the absolute best price for that flight.

While there may be several different companies online that offer lower fares than others, you will never find a lower one than what the airline is offering directly. Which is why it’s important to check the airline’s website first before comparing prices through an online travel agency (Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, etc.).

When booking flights you should always start with the airline site directly or with a site like Kayak which searches multiple online travel agencies and airlines at once to compare prices. While most sites will show you a price and then tack on several dollars in taxes and fees at checkout, there are a few sites that will cover all of them in the initial cost so be sure to read carefully. If you find a site that doesn’t disclose all of these fees up front then chances are the price will more than likely increase after checkout.

It’s a new year, and the airlines are already launching the first of their sales for 2018. The latest sale from Southwest Airlines is a great example of how to get the best airfare possible: buy early and travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

The first secret to getting the best deal is buying early. In this case you have to act fast — sale fares are only good for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between January 9th and February 14th (excluding February 11th). If you want a deal during that period, you need to book quickly because these deals will be gone soon.

The second secret is that you can beat Southwest’s lowest fare by $5 each way if you choose to fly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This sale is only good on flights operated by Southwest Airlines. Southwest has a pretty extensive domestic network in the US, so there will be plenty of deals to choose from.

If you are a frequent traveler, you might have a frequent flyer mile account. However, if you want to get the lowest airfare possible, you may want to consider keeping your frequent flyer miles separate from your ticket.

Some airlines offer special fares for those who have frequent flyer accounts. These fares are often limited and offered only to members of their account. Other airlines will offer special deals to those who have booked flights in the past, but they usually do not offer these discounts to all of their customers.

The reason why it’s important to keep your frequent flyer miles separate from your ticket is because when you book a ticket and use your frequent flyer miles, you are essentially paying the airline twice. First, you pay the airline for the flight itself and then you pay them again for the miles that were used on that trip.

It is much better to save your miles until they are really needed and then use them when they are really needed than it is to use them as soon as possible just so that you can get a “free” flight. The reason why this is important is because there are many different types of tickets available at any given time, so waiting for a lower fare can be very beneficial in the long run.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but airline tickets are cheaper than they used to be. If you haven’t noticed, then you might not be aware of the unprecedented number of airlines that have recently gone out of business.

I used to work in the airline industry, and I can tell you that the cheapest price you can get for a ticket is usually the one offered by the airline itself. There are a lot of people who believe that buying tickets from third party travel sites will save them money, and for some people this may be true. However, in most cases, it is cheaper to go directly to the source to buy your tickets.

If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that I am a big fan of Southwest Airlines. I love their no-frills flights and the fact that they are the only major airline that doesn’t charge a fee for your first checked bag. If there is a Southwest flight available at the same price as another airline, chances are good that I will choose Southwest.

It’s easy to find a travel agent these days. If you want to book a hotel room or a rental car, it’s best to call an agent. The same is true for airline reservations. Travel agents are the ones who can check flights and prices for you, and they may even be able to get you a better deal than you would be able to get by yourself.

But while it’s easy to find an agent who can help you find cheap flights, not all of them are created equal. Some will try to sell you on their service by saying that they can find you the cheapest price, but in reality this isn’t always the case. For example, some travel agents may offer discounts on certain airlines because they’re affiliated with that particular airline and want to sell more tickets from it.
