Many people have the misconception that booking last minute flights is cheaper, but often times it is not. Flights become more expensive around holidays and special dates such as Valentines Day or Christmas. If you are planning a trip to visit a loved one, book your flight well before Christmas or Valentines Day so you don’t have to pay the extra cost of a last minute flight.

2) Check out multiple airlines when searching for cheap flights. Sometimes, flying with a cheaper airline may be best for you if you don’t need all the extra perks that come with first class seats. Also, some airlines offer discounts on tickets if you buy them mid week instead of on weekends. Southwest Airlines is known for offering discount flights to their customers.

3) Try flying into smaller airports instead of major airports like JFK International Airport in New York City or Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Flying into smaller airports can save you money because they tend to offer

1. Always carry an extra pair of socks in your carry-on bag. You never know when your flight might be delayed or you might have to walk through a puddle of water at the airport. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

2. If you are traveling internationally, make sure that you bring a travel adapter so that you can charge your electronics while you are traveling. While in flight, you might want to watch a movie or play games on your tablet, phone, or laptop; and these devices will need to be charged up in order to do so.

3. When getting ready for your trip, always check the weather forecast and pack accordingly. You don’t want to get stuck in a snowstorm without a coat or heavy sweater!

4. Make sure that you give yourself enough time to pack for your trip so that nothing is rushed or forgotten at home. Also, don’t bring more than what is necessary for the trip so that there isn’t any excess baggage fees at the airport? You wouldn’t want those extra charges!

You also need to think about your budget, if you want to stay in a hotel or camp, and what kind of transportation you will use. In addition, you will have to consider the distance between destinations and what time of year is best for your plans.

So, you’re going on vacation? That’s exciting! I’m sure you’ve been looking forward to it for a long time. You probably have a lot of questions though, like whether or not you’ll be able to stay connected while abroad, how much cash to bring with you, and how to navigate your new surroundings. The good news is that we’re here to help!

Below are seven things everyone should do before they go on vacation. Next week we’ll cover what to do when you get there.

Get a Passport

This one might seem obvious, but many people don’t realize that they do not have a valid passport until the last minute. If you are traveling abroad, a valid passport is essential. It is the only document most countries accept as proof of citizenship. You will not be allowed on an airplane without one. If you need to get one, it’s important that you apply for it well in advance (at least six weeks) of your trip so there is plenty of time for processing.

Register with the Embassy

I know this sounds kind of scary and formal, but it’s really just a way for the US government to keep track of where its citizens are in case something happens (like an earthquake or terrorist attack). It also

You’ve probably heard this before, but the best way to find an affordable flight is to book in advance. It’s a great idea to have at least three or four months’ lead time when booking your flight. You should also sign up for airline email alerts so you know when they’re running promotions or sales.

You’d be surprised just how many people don’t know that you can earn miles on everyday purchases! There are so many ways to do this, and it’s not hard at all. You can earn miles by using a certain credit card, shopping online, and even scanning your receipts from grocery or convenience stores.

Although it may sound counterintuitive, one of the cheapest days to fly is actually Saturday. The best day to book flights is Tuesday, and the cheapest day of the week to fly is Saturday. So if you’re looking for a vacation on the cheap, leaving on Saturday and returning on Monday is your best bet.
